Farge ikke vurdert	Lukt: Og hva skal man si etter noe sånt? Det som i alle fall sitter igjen er lukten. Jeg har aldri vært borti en whisky hvor lukten rett og slett ligger som en sky rundt glasset. Og hvilken lukt, helt spesielt! Etter at glasset var tomt luktet det enda mer, og lukta skiftet fra eik til peat og til vanilje etter som tiden gikk. Rett og slett lukt i alle regnbuens farger! Har ikke kommentert ettersmak. Oppsummering: Skal ikke si smaken var skuffende, jeg hadde bare ventet mer. Sånn sett var Dalmore 62 mye mer minneverdig smaksmessig. Se forum for flere detaljer.

Farge ikke vurdert	Black Cherries, orange peel, dark chocolate, some pine resin, notes of dunnage warehouse. Dried fruits – apricot – sherry influence comes through, then strawberry shortcake and fresh mint leaves. Some rubber, plums and macadamia nuts. All in all a nose to savour – very complex and quite incredible for a whisky of this age.	Oily and buttery, Worcester sauce, earthy smoke. More orange and dried fruits. Surprisingly bold – again, for the age – with a very firm, waxy mouthfeel. Wood varnish emerges.
Ettersmak: Long and dry, a touch of heather and spice comes through Oppsummering: Still an amazingly vibrant spirit after so long in cask.

Bleached polished mahogany	A mellow nose, at once waxy and fruity; candlewax to the fore initially, which becomes snuffed candle (a thread of smoke), with Maraschino cherries in madeira cake behind, and after a while orangey citric note – fresh and juicy, becoming apricot jam. Flaked almonds and whin flowers, becoming light coconut oil.	Surprisingly lively tasted straight. A smooth, waxy mouth feel; a sweetish start becoming moderately dry, but not overly tannic. Dried fig and tobacco notes, and an intriguing light smokiness. A long finish and, for a time, a hint of planed hardwood in the aftertaste. With a teaspoon of water, the smooth texture is enhanced.
Ettersmak: The fresh , light sweetness becoming pleasantly sour («Soor Plooms»), with sooty smoke in the finish. Oppsummering: Remarkable! No trace of wood or must or bung cloth – a delicate fresh, vital, fruity whisky, but with unusual attributes of waxiness and smokiness – uncommon today, more usual before the 1960’s.

Deep gold	Starts straight on ‘old wood’, as if you entered a cabinetmaker’s workshop, and stays there for a few seconds, just before this venerable malt starts to unfold on old turpentine, camphor, mint liqueur, old Chartreuse, almond oil and putty. Goes on with some plum jam, beeswax, Morello cherries (or rather the jam made thereof) and finally just faint whiffs of cinnamon and cedar wood. Tired? Not at all, sir, pretty much alive and certainly not fragile in any way. Very impressive. Oh, and also a little warm rhubarb pie.	Exactly the same happens on the palate, it all starts on wood, walnuts and tea but gets then rather fruitier, with several dried ones (figs and apricots are obvious, dates a little less). Once again, there’s something waxy and resinous, the whole getting finally rather dry, with quite some bitter herbs (Underberg). Also hints of cider apples (sour ones). The oakiness is finally much more obvious on the palate than on the nose in my opinion, as often with very old whiskies.
Ettersmak: Rather long, with a bigger bitter waxiness and quite some liquorice wood. Oppsummering: Honestly, this is certainly oaky on the palate, but not quite over-oaky. The nose is stellar. The whole is much more than just a vanity bottling for tycoons who would keep the 20 cl version in their Bentley’s glove compartment
